Whether you’re looking for a keepsake box for your coffee table or a chest for storage, Oklahoma Master Woodwright custom builds boxes and chests in almost any size in beautiful solid wood.
Every piece is designed to be unique, classic, functional and stunning. The top and sides are made of solid wood, connected by classic joinery. The bottom is hardwood plywood that matches the wood selected for your piece.
To give each chest and box the most beautiful look, corners are joined with a box joint dado and secured by wooden pegs, a technique I learned 20 years ago from a gentleman who had perfected the process over 60 years. We refuse to use metal fasteners that can cause cracks and failure of the corner.
When trim is called for, we make it ourselves, taking the opportunity to display remarkably beautiful wood. Only high-quality hinges are used, installing a piano hinge if the project size requires it. We also are masters at using the Sam Maloof custom made wooden hinge technique.
Each box or chest is finished with a hand-applied clear natural stain, followed by multiple hand applications of polyurethane to enhance and preserve the wood for generations to come.
